Buddhists love to talk about practice and compassion, but in reality many do little of either.
The very people who are supposed to be breaking free from the wheel of suffering often do little more in their Dharma careers than lose themselves in conceptualisations ... albeit conceptualisations which are different from those of 'ordinary', Samsaric beings ... all from the relative saftey and comfort of their ivory-towers-cum-Dharma-centres.
Buddhism will do nothing but reify the ego if you let it. You may have the most popular guru who gives the swankiest teachings, but if you miss the point then all this just mires you in more concepts. In this way the means of liberation become nothing more than esoteric shackles.
You may have great devotion to your teacher, and wax eloquent about his or her merits for hours on end, but where does it lead?
Nowhere.
If you love your teacher you should be putting into practice what they have taught you, rather than bore others about it and demonstrate just how lost you really are.
The irony of ironies is that Buddhist people quite often have little or no understanding of Dharma.
