Saga Dawa, in the Tibetan tradition, commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing of Shakyamuni Buddha. As these events are commonly believed to fall within this fourth lunar month, it is considered especially important for practice. Within this period of time it is held that the results of good and bad actions are multiplied to a huge degree.

So for any practitioner, today - being the festival of Saga Dawa proper - is a good day for new beginnings if we've been a little lazy, and a good opportunity to recheck our motivation, take stock of where we're at and move forward. (And be good to people and the world around us while we're about it.)

Wishing all brother and sister sentient beings freedom from suffering and the obtaining of every happiness, and rejoicing in the merits of all performers of random acts of kindness.

Sarva managalam!
